Intallation for the Ubuntu

setting up MariaDB repositories

https://downloads.mariadb.org/mariadb/repositories

choose a version

run the commands to install for Ubuntu, DB 10.1


sudo apt-get install software-properties-common sudo apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80 0xF1656F24C74CD1D8

sudo add-apt-repository ‘deb [arch=amd64,i386,ppc64el] http://ftp.kaist.ac.kr/mariadb/repo/10.1/ubuntu xenial main’

sudo apt update

sudo apt install mariadb-server

configuring MariaDB for Remote

# mysql -u root -p

# maria> create database just;

# maria> create user ‘test’@’%’ identified by ‘mypassword’;

# maria> create user ‘test’@’localhost’ identified by ‘mypassword’;

# maria> grant all privileges on just.* to test@’%’;

# maria> flush privileges;

 

# sudo vi /etc/mysql/my.cnf

bind_address=127.0.0.1  (basic)

==>

#bind_address=127.0.0.1

or bind_address=0.0.0.0

or bind_address=221.123.123.123      (db server public ip)

# sudo service mysql restart
